Darren Henare and Jane Finlayson are owner/operators of Backbone Marketing based in Orewa.  Their team's range of skills and experience gives clients a broad set of solutions to help grow their business.

Darren Henare - General Manager

Darren gained extensive sales experience in the travel and tourism sector.  He spent 8 years in operations and management roles including Chief Information Officer for one of NZ's largest and most successful retail and corporate travel companies, Flight Centre. Darren also played rugby to a provincial and international level and has exposure and experience in high performance teams and understands the elements of exceptional coaching.

Jane Finlayson - Marketing Consultant
B.Ag Sc. (Marketing & Management) from Massey University; Dip. Management (Service Sector) from Auckland University. 

Jane founded Backbone Marketing in 2001.  Her expertise and knowledge has been sought out particularly in the rural and veterinary sectors.  She has worked with and for multinational companies as well as small to medium NZ businesses.

During her career Jane has gained qualifications and experience in sales, marketing and management.  Her experience includes the highly disciplined and resourced marketing environment of an American multinational pharmaceutical company (MSD Agvet) through to the set up and management of a local, sparingly resourced veterinary marketing franchise brand.  She enjoys working in the veterinary and rural sectors and has clients that include small businesses through to larger multinationals companies.

Jane is currently on contract to ATEED as a Business Advisor.

Chris Millar - Marketing Consultant

Chris provides marketing support and advice to clients, drawing on experience in a variety of Sales and Marketing roles with leading New Zealand companies such as Hallmark Cards New Zealand, RetailWorld Resourcing, Rudd Watts and Stone and retailer Farmers.

Tania Fenton - Senior Designer

Tania is our senior designer with extensive experience both in the UK and New Zealand.  Fast and efficient, she will turn your marketing collateral into a masterpiece to be proud of.
